February Was a Big Leap Forward
Belmont Runners took advantage of the extra Leap Year day and had an active February. We enrolled ten new members, saw record turnout at our training runs, officially kicked-off our Friday morning runs, and generally took advantage of the great weather.
We continued our tradition of mixing business with pleasure by doing a fun run on February 11th and capping it off with a tasting at the new Ghostwood Beer Company in Redwood City.
We ended February with a special Leap Year Run at Huddart Park, one of the jewels of the County’s park system.
And we’ve added a fourth training run each week. For those early risers, we have a 6 am option on Friday mornings that will get your day off to a great start and get you done in time for work!
A Place for Beginner Runners!
If you are new to running, come join us for Track Thursdays! At the track, you can run at your own pace and walk when needed. It’s a great way to build a base of fitness and endurance before trying longer runs. Our club is here to provide guidance and support for runners just starting out or are looking to meet your own personal goals. If you’re new to our club or to running and have questions about starting out, please contact Shelly at shelly@belmontrunners.com .
Want a Unique Challenge?
While there aren’t many local marathons in the area, the 4th Annual Trans-Peninsula Marathon and Half Marathon is a unique one that’s just around the corner. Come join Belmont Runners on April 25th and support a great event that crosses the Peninsula from the Bay to the ocean, a local take on running from bay to breakers! The 4th annual Trans-Peninsula Marathon and Half-Marathon is a free event that covers 13.1 or 26.2 miles, 4,000 feet of climbing, through many neighborhoods and parks that make our area so special. It’s less of a race and more of a group run at modest pace of 10-11 minutes/mile. Find out more about this event, which starts at 8 am at Shorebird Park in Foster City. Or consider volunteering and supporting the runners if you’re not ready for this adventure.
